Even though "Stardew Valley" was released eight years ago, the farming sim is still popular today. People who have played the game for a while have nothing else to do but to expand or create a new save. That is until the release of the 1.6 update, which is coming soon.
'Stardew Valley' 1.6 Update
Fans have been anticipating the update since it was announced, and it is finally just a few weeks away. The developer of the game, ConcernedApe AKA Eric Barone, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the update will arrive on March 19.
However, the release date for the update only applies to the PC version of the game. "Stardew Valley" on console and mobile will get their updates "as soon as possible." As for what the 1.6 update brings, there are many things to get excited about.
For one, there will be new in-game content, which includes additional dialogue, a new festival, new items and "secrets," as per Kotaku. It's unclear what ConcernedApe meant by secrets, but that's just part of what makes the game great as players discover something new.
In addition, Barone will make it easier for modders to create mods for the game, which will come with the 1.6 update. Some of the other concerns are addressed, such as the bugs in the game's mobile version.
Players have been pointing out the bugs that prevent the game from following the day-to-night cycle, among others. Optimistically, the upcoming update will fix all remaining bugs in the 8-year-old game.
'Haunted Chocolatier'
ConcernedApe is also working on another title called "Haunted Chocolatier," but it might be a while before we see its release. In the dev's post, he said he's taking a break from developing the game for the 1.6 update.
So far, there hasn't been much revealed about the chocolate-making sim. The last update from Barone, aside from the post on X, was back in December 2021 on the official website for the game, so the best fans can do is wait patiently for the release.
According to ConcernedApe, he chose chocolate as the main product in the game since he thinks that "a lot of people like chocolate" and that it "represents that which is delightful." The haunted part, on the other hand, "represents the allure of the unknown."
There are additions to the game like shields to block attacks and stun the enemy. The developer said that he won't rest or release the game until he is personally satisfied that it's fun and compelling in every aspect. It's important to note that almost everything in "Haunted Chocolatier" is "coded (and drawn) from scratch."
In the last update, Barone said he was making good progress and working on the core elements of the game.
"I don't really feel like sharing much because I'd rather let the game be a surprise than reveal everything," the developer said.
