Waze is set to introduce road hazard warnings and updated routing information on both iOS and Android phones this month.
Previously, the company launched a first responder alert feature for drivers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and France.
Waze Adds Speed Bumps, Sharp Curves Warnings
Later this month, Waze will debut new icons that will serve as a warning for speed bumps, sharp curves, and toll booths. There will also be an alert if the speed limit is about to drop.
Moreover, the app is also changing its traffic presentation and delay information if the driver is going on its usual routes. A traffic circle helper feature will also be implemented that will help drivers spot the lane to use to exit the circle.
Waze is also partnered with Flash to give details on parking garages and allow drivers to reserve spots using the app. However, this specific feature will only be available in certain cities like New York, Chicago, and Montreal.
Waze Prioritizes First Responders
Drivers are expected to give way to first responders due to their nature of work. However, it could be a hassle for riders to come across emergency vehicles on their route.
The Waze for City partners gave information that allowed the app to alert the drivers in advance when emergency vehicles are stopped along the route. This will hopefully help the drivers adjust their routes for the convenience of both parties.
"Whether it's highlighting crash-prone roads along a route, displaying road hazards like potholes, or showing the closest electric vehicle charging stations, Waze helps drivers navigate more safely and conveniently," the company wrote.
