Kate Middleton's recent picture on Instagram was pulled from news outlets over concerns that the image might have been manipulated.
The Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP) reportedly issued a "kill order" on the image from their archives.
Several news outlets, including The New York Times, have already announced removing the photo from their reports.
AP told Sky News that the image was removed after a "closer inspection" showed "inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte's left hand."
The Kensington Palace, which released the photo, has declined to comment on the issue.
The picture, which was posted on Mother's Day in the U.K., was supposed to be the first official appearance of the Princess of Wales two months after an abdominal surgery. She was wearing tight jeans in the picture.
Rumors about the princess's health have been going around online over the past month as paparazzi pictures circulated online.
AI Manipulation Concerns Raised Over Kate Middleton Pic
As with all manipulated images reported recently, concerns about AI being used on the image are increasing.
New AI models have been proven to be capable of generating near-realistic images of actual people, with very minimal photo editing needed.
AI image detectors, so far, have completely opposing results whether the image involved the use of AI technology.
Royal Palace Remains Secretive About Royal Family's Health
The royal palace has been quiet on several occasions regarding the health of the royal family.
The palace only announced the Princess of Wales undergoing a "planned abdominal surgery" after the operation with minimal information about its cause.
King Charles III also just recently announced being diagnosed with a form of cancer but did not disclose the severity or type of illness he has.
