Microsoft Introduces Unusual Pricing Model for Copilot Security Chatbot

Microsoft is launching a pay-as-you-go licensing model for Copilot for Security, allowing customers to only pay based on their needs and budget.

The Microsoft Copilot for Security which is designed for cybersecurity professionals, will be available globally starting April 1.

Microsoft Offers Consumption-Based Pricing for Copilot Security

In a blog post, Microsoft announced that Copilot Security will be charging based on the customer's consumption which is $4 per "security compute unit." The type of prompts and summaries vary in size based on the customer's type of workload.

"Copilot is informed by large-scale data and threat intelligence, including more than 78 trillion security signals processed by Microsoft each day, and coupled with large language models to deliver tailored insights and guide next steps," Microsoft explained.

The unusual pricing for Copilot Security's model is based on the target to keep expenses low for organizations, especially those that experiment with the tool.

Similarly, Microsoft has been charging for Azure OpenAI Service through tokens, wherein one token equates to four English characters. Meanwhile, Copilot for Microsoft 365 uses a plan-based subscription which can cost $30 per person per month for companies.

Microsoft Copilot Security Promises Accurate Efficiency

The Copilot Security boasts that it can process prompts and respond in eight languages. In addition, it also features a multilingual interface, making it easy to use across the globe.

The new AI tool allows customers to create custom promptbooks that will be used for common security tasks. The model is also capable of saving knowledgebase integrations based on each business.

Cybersecurity professionals can connect their curated external attack surface from Microsoft Defender External Attack Surface Management and analyze insights from Microsoft Entra audit and diagnostic logs. A dashboard of insights will also be provided for fast reporting of issues.
