You've probably heard of the game Among Us or even played it at least once as it grew in popularity back in 2020. Thanks to Twitch streamers, it became one of the most played titles during the pandemic. In case you missed it, they're making a TV show based on the game, and it already has a star-studded voice actor crew to make that happen.
Among Us TV Show Cast
We still don't know how the story will play out in the animated show, but it has been said that the showrunners will stick to the main premise of the game. Crewmates will perform tasks as an impostor roams around the ship dropping bodies undetected.
There hasn't been much news about the Among Us series ever since it was announced last year by CBS Studios, but now, we finally know who will be the voice behind the colorful crewmates, and all of them are already familiar with the video game, TV show, and film industry.
Among them is Elijah Wood, who you may know as Frodo Baggins from "The Lord of the Rings," Randall Park from "Fresh Off the Boat," Yvette Nicole Brown from "Community," and Ashley Johnson for being the voice behind Ellie from The Last of Us.
All the mentioned actors already have colors assigned, with them being Green, Red, Orange, and Purple, respectively. What's funnier is that they will already have tasks and responsibilities assigned to each color or character.
According to Gizmodo, Red will serve as the captain of the Skeld, Orange is the "spineless corporate shill" of an HR, Purple will be the security chief who has trust issues, and Green is the unpaid intern who's glad to be on the ship.
It's unknown whether there will be an additional cast, especially since there are a lot more colors to assign to other actors, and it could make for a more interesting show. For now, all we can do is guess who of the four will get the role of Impostor.
Since it is still in production and has a long way until it is finished, there will likely be more news about the show in the future that will shock us as much as seeing Elijah Wood as the unpaid intern. The streaming service that will air the show is still yet to be announced as well.
Among Us Popularity
The game has simple mechanics. All you have to do is attend to tasks that keep the ship running. The catch? There is a shapeshifter that disguises itself as part of the crew and kills unsuspecting crewmates as they go about their day.
Among Us was made popular by Twitch streamers, and as more people in the gaming community participated in the hype, even those who didn't play very often joined in on the fun. It definitely helped that everyone had nothing else to do during the pandemic lockdown.
The hype has since died down, but the game still has thousands of active players on PC alone. The latest 24-hour concurrent players peak on Steam shows 8,499 players, with an all-time peak of 447,476 players four years ago.
