iOS 18 to Allow More Customization on Home Screen

Apple is reportedly planning to revamp the Home Screen into a "more customizable" look for the release of iOS 18, as per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The much-awaited iOS 18 is expected to be announced during the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

iOS 18 to Debut Customization for iPhone Users

The iOs 18 has been receiving hype online due to the rumored features that it will introduce at its launch. People familiar with the matter even describe the upcoming update as the "biggest software update" in the iPhone's history.

One of the latest rumors is that Apple will finally give room for customization. This means that users will have greater control over the Home Screen app icon arrangement, something that users have been requesting for a long time.

According to the reports, app icons will likely remain locked in an invisible grid system on the Home Screen. However, users will be more free to arrange the icons with some expecting the update to introduce blank spaces, rows, and columns between icons.

The iPhone Lock Screen was the first to receive customization features since the iOS 16 launch. Users are now expecting to receive a similar treatment and see the biggest revamp to the Home Screen.

Apple Preps for Big Updates Including AI Functions

Amid all the external ruckus surrounding Apple, the company is also reportedly working to bring changes. This includes the official integration of AI functionality for Siri and other apps.

According to Gurman, the iOS 18 will open the feature generative AI technology which will allow apps like Siri and Messages to auto-complete sentences and field questions. Apple Music, Pages, Keynote, and Xcode are also expected to get AI features.

There are also rumors of RCS support in the Messages app for improved communication between Android and iPhone devices. The RCS support could bring higher resolution between media files, read receipts, improved group chats, improved encryption, and more.

The iOS 18 is expected to open its first beta for developers during the 2024 WWDC and will be released to all by September.
