Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 gets closer to launch with FCC certification

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 4 lineup of tablets is picking up steam ahead of the official unveiling and now an FCC listing shows the 10.1-inch model may hit Verizon soon.

After the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 leaked online in two press renders recently, courtesy of well-known tipster @evleaks, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now ready for some spotlight as well. While nothing is confirmed at this point, intensifying leaks suggest that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab lineup is just around the corner.

Just a few days ago, trusted tipster @evleaks moved up the Galaxy Tab 4 line and posted a couple of renders to show off the upcoming Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. Anticipation keeps intensifying, as the Verizon-branded model of the device has apparently received certification from the FCC.

While the FCC listing is barely an official announcement, it does offer strong hints that the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is ready to make its debut soon. The FCC documents in question show the device with model number SM-T537V. The Verizon model of the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 4 has also received certifications to use LTE bands 4 and 13. The measurement details, meanwhile, confirm that this device is indeed the larger member of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 4 series, expected to debut shortly.

As expected, the FCC listing doesn't offer any details in terms of specifications, but previous rumors might shed some light on the matter. Based on reports so far, the fourth-generation Galaxy Tab 10.1 is expected to sport a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz under the hood, as well as 1GB or 1.5GB of RAM. Other rumored specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, a rear camera of at least 3 megapixels, and a 6,800 mAh battery.

In other words, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 doesn't look like a very high-end offering, but that's not much of a surprise. Samsung has launched its Note PRO and Tab PRO tablets for more horsepower, and all other offerings pale in comparison.

On the software side, however, the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 will sport a little more muscle thanks to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS, which is expected to be available out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 had already passed through the FCC recently, but this new listing is specifically for the Verizon-branded version of the tablet. All signs point to an imminent launch on Big Red's network, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear something official.
