The HTC One M8 recently launched with all bells and whistles but apparently it has an issue that makes it boot straight into Safe Mode for some reason.
HTC's latest flagship smartphone has been available for more than a week and its availability continues to expand to other regions. The new HTC One M8 is definitely worthy of the flagship title and it comes with top-notch specs and features, but some models apparently have a glitch.
Online UK retailer Clove has received stock of the new HTC One M8 and has taken a few units out of their boxes for testing, only to discover that in some cases the smartphone booted in Safe Mode instead of launching normally.
"One thing that we have seen in activating a few devices though is that a number have been booted straight into Safe Mode, despite being sealed retail stock," Clove notes in a company blog post on Wednesday, April 2.
"Due to this we have opened some more to test and can confirm that this occurs on a number of handsets, and is not isolated to any particular batch or IMEI range. In fact one from a box delivered to us by HTC may be affected whilst the rest are not," adds the retailer.
According to Clove, the issue is not very serious and will not require users to return the handset. While some owners of the HTC One M8 may feel cheated to face such an issue with a brand new device, Clove assures that it's easily fixable.
The retailer has found that if the HTC One M8 boots straight into Safe Mode, the issue can be cleared by pressing down the power key before pressing Restart. If this fails to fix the problem, users can also try another approach: remove the microSD card, then go into the phone's Settings; from there, select Backup & Reset > Reset phone > Erase all data.
