Apple was confirmed to be cutting off 614 employees from its now-defunct Apple Car and smartwatch display divisions.
In an employment filing on Thursday, the iPhone maker said it has eliminated several roles across its offices in California, including its car production headquarters in Santa Clara. Apple stated that 371 employees were affected by the job cuts.
California-based companies are required to report the exact number of employees affected by layoffs in accordance with the state's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification program.
Apple has yet to respond to the reports of the layoffs. The job cuts were first reported by Bloomberg.

The layoffs from the Apple Car project marks the first major layoff from Apple amid the growing number of employment downsizing in the tech industry this year.
Other big techs like Amazon, Google, and Meta have been conducting several layoffs for over four months now, following the monumental job cut recorded last year.
There are no reports yet confirming that Apple will conduct another major layoff anytime soon, but the tech giant is expected to further reduce its operations amid legal troubles affecting its sales.
Tech industry job watcher Layoffs.fyi counted over 57,000 employees have already been impacted by the layoffs since 2024 started.
