EA Play Increases Prices Across Gaming Subscription Plans

In a leaked user notification, EA is planning to increase its standard tier by $1 from $4.99 to $5.99 per month. For users who pay annually the change will be from $29.99 to $39.99.

As for the Pro tier, the monthly fee will now become $16.99 from $14.99, making the annual plan cost $119.99 annually. On the other hand, the pricing for the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox versions still shows the old pricing.

EA Play was originally a combination of EA Access and Origin Access which was officially formed in 2020. Since then, the video game subscription service has been providing its users a pass to games published by the company.

Video Game Subscriptions Raise Prices

Aside from EA Play, other video game subscription services have started to raise their prices. For instance, the Xbox Series X and Game Pass announced a $1 to $2 price change across the countries with the service.

Sony followed Microsoft's first-ever price hike since its launch by announcing that the PlayStation Plus 12-month subscription will be changing its prices across all tiers.

The company quickly justified its significant price changes following a huge reaction from its users. "This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service," the company explained.
