The defect is reported to have also affected the cars' power indicator, deceiving drivers how much power their vehicles actually have.

At least 403,000 Bronco Sport models made between February 2020 to March 2024 are estimated to be affected by the defect, while 53,000 Mavericks from February 2021 to October 2022 were impacted.

No Road Accidents Reported Yet

According to Associated Press, Ford has not detected any road accidents involving this particular manufacturing issue as of Feb. 8. The automaker has yet to update on its investigations.

Affected owners are advised to go to their nearest car dealers to have the affected parts replaced free of charge.

Drivers can also refer to Ford's On-line Automotive Service Information System to learn more about the proceeding steps for the recall and repair.

What to Do if Defected Car Gets Involved in Road Accident?

Although Ford has yet to confirm an accident caused by this particular defect, drivers are advised to seek legal counsel to protect their rights in the unfortunate event that they get involved in a road crash.

According to Kraft & Associates, drivers and any injured party are entitled to compensation from the automobile manufacturer if it is proven that the defect primarily caused the accident.

Among the compensations that can be pursued include reparations for "property damage, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages."

It is worth noting that investigation regarding these defect-caused incidents usually takes quite some time before any hearing can be scheduled.
