Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ Will End by Season 5

It's not looking good for Netflix's live-action adaptation of "The Witcher." Fans of the show are disappointed over the fact that it has lost actor Henry Cavill for the role of Geralt, and some would argue that it is going to go downhill from there. Not to worry, it'll be a while before it ends.

The End for Geralt of Rivia

If you're a fan of the show regardless of the source material, then you might be happy to know that there are still two seasons ahead before the show ends. Netflix has renewed "The Witcher" for seasons four and five to cover the remaining books in the series.

The fourth season has already started production and has cast a new actor in one of the leading roles. Liam Hemsworth will be playing the new Geralt after the departure of Henry Cavill, and a lot of the show's followers aren't exactly too excited about it.

Showrunners and actors will immediately jump into filming the fifth season, as reported by The Verge, after the fourth season finishes production. Sadly for fans of the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, the show might miss a lot of events due to the short time frame.

The two upcoming seasons will cover all three of the remaining books in the series, which are "Baptism of Fire," "The Tower of the Swallow," and "Lady of the Lake." That's a lot of material left and two seasons may not be enough.

If the show follows the books, it's likely that we will see more of Freya Allan, the actress for Ciri. The latter books in the series puts more importance on the character as her power grows, making her the lead in the show and not Geralt or Yennefer.

Regardless, the fourth season will continue the events of the third season. Geralt will search for Ciri and Yennefer by finding a family in Hanza to help track them down. Fans will also see new cast members such as Laurence Fishburne, Sharlto Copley, and James Purefoy.

Henry Cavill Leaving 'The Witcher'

The news of Henry Cavill's exit from the show hit several headlines when it was announced. He was regarded as the perfect cast for the character, and it was not only because of his skill in acting and how his looks were fitting for the role.

He was also a widely-known nerd for the franchise. He has read the books and played the games, which gave him a unique perspective and edge as an actor. He even reportedly gave suggestions as to what the show should follow.

As a firm believer in respecting the source material, many speculated that his departure was due to creative differences with the showrunners, and how they refused to follow the book faithfully. However, there are also other reasons why Cavill decided to leave.

At the time, there were talks of his return to another iconic role, which is DC's "Superman." We all know that did not pan out, but the actor has no shortage of roles to play. He already has an upcoming series at Amazon, "Warhammer 40k."
