LG G3 confirmed to boast 2K display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, more specs leak

Leaks about the highly-anticipated LG G3 smartphone are starting to intensify ahead of its purported May debut, and now we have confirmation it will rock a 2K display.

The LG G3 will launch as the successor to the innovative LG G2, but it has not leaked as extensively as other flagship smartphones. Nevertheless, bits of information have surfaced on several occasions and we have great expectations from LG's next-generation flagship.

While LG has yet to confirm a launch timeframe, the LG G3 is widely expected to debut in May, i.e. as soon as next month. As always with upcoming launches, rumors are picking up ahead of the big debut and the LG G3 is no exception. Previous rumors have indicated that the smartphone may boast a 2K display and now LG has confirmed it.

"We've reached out to LG, and they have confirmed that their next product will indeed have a 2560 x 1440 display (2K). However, that's all the information that the company is willing to comment about at this point," Ubergizmo reports.

The publication has also obtained an image "from a source that has proven reliable in the past," and says that it's nearly 100 percent certain it is a photo of the LG G3. The photo (see above) of an AnTuTu benchmark shows a density of 640 dpi, but Ubergizmo believes it's not correct.

Moreover, the upcoming smartphone powerhouse has also been spotted in a user agent profile (UAProf) on Sprint's website, with model number LG-LS990.

The display seems to measure 5.5 inches, offering plenty of screen real estate to rock that whopping 2K resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset will apparently pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, most likely the Snapdragon 801, with Adreno 330 graphics.

Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The front camera should have 1080p video recording capabilities, while the rear shooter will apparently be able to capture images at up to 4160 x 3120.

These purported specs fall in line with earlier leaks, but the LG G3 is still in the rumor state at this point. The only thing that is for certain is that it will have a 2K display, and the rest of the smartphone's specs and features should be top-notch as well.
