Better Protected: How to Improve Home Security with AI

Better protection on home security systems is important in ensuring the safety of the family, both physically and digitally.

The growing trend in cyberattacks targeting home smart devices reflects the need for improved safety measures at home, for privacy and data security.

How Can AI Improve Security Systems?

AI, at its core, is a great tool in automating management tasks, allowing both devices and people to handle more tasks while the AI operates mostly on its own.

The technology is already being used in most modern smart home security devices, being mainly relegated to management systems for interconnected device ecosystems.

However, deep learning machines and large language models can be further used to optimize the security of the home and the devices that are guarding it.

Facial Recognition AI

The most common application of AI in home security systems is the addition of facial recognition features.

While the function itself has been prone to glitches and errors, limiting its use to just recognizing structures of a face is enough to help people monitor for strangers within the vicinity.

AI as an Additional Firewall System

The rise of cyberattacks and vulnerable security devices have made it easier for people's private information to be compromised.

In this case, the use of AI as an extra security measure on the devices can be beneficial in deterring data breaches and hackers looking for an easy prey.

This can be done by adding AI-powered security tools to networks, applications, and devices connected to the home security devices.

People can also employ the help of the technology through third-party AI solutions available in digital security services.

Other times, the device manufacturers themselves offer additional security protection through paid subscription. Customers just need to choose which is more efficient and cost-friendlier out of their options.

AI Security Assistant

Much like how AI is being used to streamline phones, the technology can also be quite useful in providing customized security for smart home devices.

AI assistants and chatbots are currently being added to extension apps of these devices to allow homeowners understand better the functions of their home security devices, as well as easily manage them wherever they are.

Samsung's recent releases, at least outside of its smartphones, have been pointing to this application, especially with its AI-powered house mapping management system for all Samsung devices.
