AAA games are usually too heavy to be run on smaller devices like smartphones. Even video game devices like handhelds can only handle so much. Apple, however, has found a way to make it work, and Assassin's Creed fans will be able to play Mirage on smaller screens.
Assassin's Creed Mirage on iPhones, iPads
The latest title from the Assassin's Creed franchise has been around for months, and it has gotten good reviews since. However, for those who don't have consoles or PCs that can handle heavy games, they now have a third option.
Assassin's Creed Mirage will be available for both iPhones and iPads this June 6th, although only select Apple models will be able to handle it. The iPhone 15 Pro series and iPads with the M-Series chip will be able to run the game, as per Engadget.
Ubisoft stated that the mobile version of the game will offer "the same experience as the console version," except of course, it can be controlled using on-screen buttons. Fortunately for players who want to play using actual buttons, that's also possible.
The video game giant confirmed that the game will be compatible with third-party controllers that can be attached to smartphones such as the Backbone One and Razer Kishi Ultra. For those who already save files from a PC or console, they don't need to start over.
The game supports cross-progression, which is a way to transfer saves or progress the same game on a different platform. All you need to do is save the game progress through Ubisoft Connect, and it will allow you to play your latest save on whatever gaming device.
It's possible to try the game out first for free to see how it fares on mobile, but the trial can only last for 90 minutes. After that, you can purchase the game to fully play it for $50. The game can already be pre-reserved so you can play it as soon as it's released.
Buying Smartphone-Compatible Controllers
If you already have controllers from your console, you might not have to buy MFi hardware controllers. However, since Ubisoft never mentioned the option, it might not work. If not, then you can opt for other options like the mentioned controllers before.
The Backbone One has two options for you, which is the Standard version bearing the ABXY buttons, and the PlayStation Edition, which comes with the symbols that the console giant uses. Since the game will work on the latest Apple models, you should opt for the USB-C connector type.
As for the Razer Kishi Ultra, it only comes with the ABXY buttons. One advantage it has over the Backbone One is that you can use it even with a phone case on, which is less of a hassle. However, only select cases are compatible.
Some of the phone cases the controller can work with include Apple's clear case, Dbrand Ghost, Dbrand Grip, Casetify Mirror Series, Casetify Mirror Series, Casetify Leather Series, Mous Superthin, and Otterbox Figura Series.
