US Candidates, Strategies Experiments With AI

Aside from the Democrats, the Republicans are also racing toward the potential of AI to uplift their side in the upcoming elections. Donald Trump famously won in 2016 due to social media play made by his allies.

″Candidates and strategists are still trying to figure out how to use AI in their work. People know it can save them time - the most valuable resource a campaign has," said Betsy Hoover, director of digital organizing for former President Barack Obama's 2012 campaign.

Over the years, both parties have been using AI in the form of software and computer processes that helped them gather and analyze data.

Generative AI Poses Threats Amid Huge Potential on US Elections

The fast-paced progression of generative AI has sparked interest for strategists due to its vast potential. Generative AI is popularly linked to generating text, and images and duplicating real person to create content.

However, experts warned that AI deepfakes have become more dangerous and imminent at this point. AI-powered misinformation and disinformation are one of the primary concerns in various elections around the world.

Moreover, incidents involving high-profile people have started to spread at a different speed. For instance, the faces of Biden and Trump are now being used to create content to mislead people.

A call for AI regulation is already been in process. Democrats have also collectively agreed that Congress must pass legislation that will put safeguards on AI to prevent any misuse.
