Apple to Upgrade Ultra Wide Camera on iPhone 16 Pro Models

9to5Mac reported that iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will both feature an upgraded 48MP Ultra Wide camera upon its launch. This will mark a huge leap from the current 12MP Ultra Wide camera that was introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro.

The upgraded Ultra Wide camera hints at more support for low-light environment filming, allowing shots to be more in detail. In addition, the increased resolution will also increase the editing and post-processing capabilities of the phone.

Several reports also showed the possibility of enhanced spatial video recording. Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro is the only model that can record a spatial video at 1080p resolution. The upgraded camera system could boost its capability by up to 4K resolution.

Apple to Add Multiple Camera Enhancement for iPhone 16 Pro Models

Apple made significant improvements to its optical and digital zoom when it launched the iPhone 15 Pro series. The 15 Pro Max device is equipped with a new tetraprism design, allowing it to perform 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. There is a possibility that Apple will increase its capability.

On the other hand, the tech giant is reportedly exploring a new "atomic layer deposition" lens coating that will act as an anti-reflective coat on iPhone 16 Pro's camera lenses. iPhone users have been long complaining about seeing lens flare, especially when taking shots in bright environments.

The last camera feature will center on the Main camera sensor which is rumored to use an upgraded design from Sony to allow better low-light capturing. iPhone users could expect better lighting with less noise in their photos if the feature pushes through.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone series in September.
