Honkai: Star Rail's "Memory of Chaos" game mode has long been notorious in the game's community as the ultimate test for knowledge of the game's mechanics and team builds.
Despite its difficulty compared to other challenges, even free-to-plays (payers who do not spend in the game) can complete "Memory of Chaos" with some preparation and resource farming.
What is Memory of Chaos?
Along with "Pure Fiction" and the "Simulated Universe," "Memory of Chaos" is one of Honkai: Star Rail's challenges for endgame players to test the full capabilities of their teams.
The game mode is divided into two separate series of challenges: the permanent 6-staged trials and the time-limited 12-staged challenges.
The challenges often include previous boss and min-boss fights, excluding the final boss, with some modifications.
Each level gets more difficult with the last few ones having enemies at over Level 90, 10 levels higher than the maximum level currently attainable for playable characters.
To incentivize team building, the game rewards players who finish the challenges faster and with fewer losses.
Understand the Challenge's Mechanics
Far from the usual combat in the story campaign and exploration, "Memory of Chaos" helps players overcome these more challenging fights with special mechanics to boost damage.
In this way, players can strategize which characters can maximize the added damage bonus to the challenges and develop plans for the most suitable team to defeat the enemies.
Prioritize Supports and Sustains
As a turn-based combat, characters made to amplify damage and protect damage dealers are essential for higher-level content.
In the same sense, Honkai: Star Rail's "Memory of Chaos" requires players to build teams that can easily clear enemy waves in one turn or a line-up that can survive massive amounts of damage.
These can only be done through support characters in the Harmony, Preservation, and Abundance paths that can boost the team's attack damage, create shields, debuff cleanse, or heal characters.
Invest for Weakness Break Characters
With the current state of the game's meta, the best way to complete these challenges is to invest in characters prioritizing "Weakness Break."
"Weakness Break" refers to the damage dealt when an enemy's "Toughness Bar" is depleted.
This can be done with the enemy's corresponding elemental weaknesses or by characters that can deplete the enemy's toughness regardless of their elements.
Although their banners are already over, players can save up for Acheron, Ruan Mei, and Xueyi as these are the characters most suited to deal huge damages via "Weakness Break."
