TikTok is testing a ChatGPT-powered "search highlights" feature to offer users AI-generated answers for their inquiries.
According to The Verge, the AI-generated answers will complement the platform's algorithm to provide a mix of summaries of related posts and videos for the full context.
It is worth noting that TikTok has already launched a similar feature with its Tako chatbot earlier released to select countries.
The rollout of more search-curated features follows TikTok's rise among younger users as the go-to search engine rather than conventional platforms like Google Search.

Even Google has been reported to testing to release paid service for AI-powered search results for its Google Search app.
This is in addition to the AI tools it has added slowly across its web and online platforms.

Why are Tech Companies Building More Search Engines
So, why search engines? Google Search alone records 8.5 billion searches every day, generating the tech giant millions of dollars in revenue through advertisements and promoted search results.
It is also the perfect platform to train large language machines as it collects millions of data and information every minute.
The opportunity also allows platforms like Reddit to open new profit avenues from its users by licensing its user content to AI companies.
