X (formerly Twitter) has finally changed its link address from Twitter to just X in the social platform's latest move to distance its old self.
In a post last Friday, X owner Elon Musk confirmed that "all core systems are now X.com," nearly two years since he bought the social media for $44 billion.
Musk first rebranded Twitter's name and logo to X last year but left the platform's domain name and other web functions to its old internet handle.
With the latest changes, however, users still typing out Twitter.com in their URL bar will instead be redirected to X.com. The same goes for the site's other web pages, including its Help Center and Verified registration platform.
X Rebranding Could Potentially Power Phishing Scams
With the last platform rebranding unannounced to all users, the change could potentially lead to many users being scammed.
Ars Technica pointed out that a big change on the platform's name without proper notification to users could potentially cause a surge in phishing and email scams using the social media's old brand.
Mobile users are particularly vulnerable as the platform's web address is not displayed on the app, allowing scammers and hackers to target unaware users through fake emails.
Phishers can also deceive people out of their personal information through misleading domain addresses.
It is recommended to check the website's address carefully before providing any personal and private information.

X Rebranding Met with Pushbacks from Users
Like with the other changes Musk introduced to the platform, the final shedding of the Twitter branding was met with pushback from many users.
Despite the changes, most users said they would still call the social media Twitter.
Many others even referenced the billionaire's previous failed attempt to use the brand name when he was still the CEO of PayPal.
Musk later stepped down as chief executive in 2002, along with his dreams to change the platform's domain name, after the digital wallet was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion.
