Verizon for Mobile Plans Now Have a 30% Discounted YouTube Premium Added Option

Verizon will soon offer a 30% discount on YouTube Premium as an added option for its Unlimited Ultimate mobile data plan.

Starting May 30, Unlimited Ultimate plan subscribers can stream YouTube and YouTube Music free from ads for only $10 per month, $3.99 less than its regular subscription offer.

After YouTube Premium, Verizon subscribers will also soon be able to add NBCUniversal's Peacock for only $5.99, 50% off from the original $11.99, by June 5.

It is worth noting that Peacock will have a subscription price hike of $2 in July, which will also reflect on Verizon's subscription discount offers.

The subscription offers will be in addition to other streaming add-ons Verizon currently offers, including discounted Disney Plus and Netflix bundles, for its pricier data plan users.

Telecom Services Hop into Streaming Service Bundles Amid FCC's Net Neutrality Rules

The introduction of streaming bundles for its premium data plans reflects Verizon's and other telecom's response to the return of the Federal Communication Commission's net neutrality rules.

The FCC recently voted to reinstate the rules to prevent telecoms like Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile from bottling internet speed to promote their pricier data plans.

This will be in addition to another ruling passed that will require the companies to provide potential customers with a "nutritional label" for their data plans to provide people a breakdown of where their bill payments go.

The labels will supposedly help reduce "junk fees" in people's bills, a mandate long proposed by the administration.

ISP Experts Warns on Dangers of Data Plan Bundles Under New FCC Ruling

While the White House and the FCC tout the ruling as a success, Stanford professor Barbara van Schewick warned consumers of potential price hikes in their bills in the form of boosted and add-in options.

According to van Schewick, telecoms, and internet service providers can simply bypass the ruling by offering boosted data connections for select apps rather than improving their services altogether.

With premium subscriptions becoming more expensive, the offers would likely attract more customers to their premium data plans. Verizon's Unlimited Ultimate starts at $100 per month.

AT&T has already made a similar response to the rulings after it unveiled a $7 monthly add-in option for a faster 5G connection.
