Netflix's 'A Family Affair'

As you already know, the trio that we will be seeing a lot of will play the roles of a famous celebrity Chris Cole (Zac Efron), his assistant Zara (Joey King), and Zara's mother Brooke (Nicole Kidman). We'll even be seeing a familiar YouTuber in the movie, Liza Koshy.

The trailer shows Zara walking in on his boss in bed with someone, only that someone is her mother which prompts her to exit in panic only to end up hitting her head at the door. To make matters worse, Zara actually hates her boss.

King is already a known Netflix star with her role in the adaptation and film series "The Kissing Booth" starring alongside Jacob Elordi. She certainly does commit to the role, especially with the part where she clumsily bangs her on the door frame.

"I did it about three times, and then took a moment to watch those takes back and decided I needed to keep trying until it was perfect," King said, adding that the hit on the head was not looking real enough to her, as per Netflix.

Even though Kidman and Efron were not part of the scene while it was being filmed, King said they stuck around just for laughs, so it's safe to say the actors had fun creating the movie. The director Richard LaGravenese weighed in on the scene as well.

"She did it seven times and every time was on the money and just cracked us up," he said, explaining that they had to put foam wood on the door and on the frame but that King was more than happy to do it every time.

In regards to the film, LaGravenese said that he saw it as a " coming-of-age story for three different characters at three different stages of their lives." Some say that the premise is already familiar, as it was already the of the similar premise as "The Idea of You."

'The Idea of You' Storyline

If the trailer strikes you as familiar, that might be because the characters are already somewhat similar to another film. A mother, a younger and famous individual, and a daughter who isn't too happy about the relationship.

"The Idea of You" has the same trio. Anne Hathaway plays the mother named Solène, and she finds herself falling in love with the famous boy band member Hayes Campbell played by Nicholas Galitzine. Her daughter Izzie is suffering the consequences of what is perceived as a scandalous relationship.

The film, which you can watch on Prime Video, actually has a more serious tone than "A Family Affair," which is obviously advertised as a comedy based on the trailer. Regardless, it has a different storyline, a different cast, and even a different genre.
