Google unveiled its newest smartwatch model, Fitbit Ace LTE, which allows parental connection with kids ages seven and above.
The Fitbit Ace LTE is capable of tracking kids' activities and performing various tasks like calling, messaging, and sharing locations with parents.
Google Introduces Reward System on Smartwatch for Kids
In a blog post, Google detailed that the Fitbit Ace LTE is designed to bring interactive 3D games to kids' wrists. The more movement they make, the more game time the watch will unlock.
Each game utilizes haptics, sounds, accelerometers, and more to monitor the kids' movements while wearing the watch. In addition, the smartwatch will add new games every few months to continue the immersive experience for children.
"All of this movement shows up in Fitbit's weirdest activity ring yet - the 'Noodle' - that lives on the home screen and celebrates when kids reach their daily move goals," Google shared. The Ace LTE watch acknowledges various types of activities like dancing, running, and more. The more recorded activity is logged, the more rewards the wearer will receive.
Google Partners With Child Psychology Experts for Fitbit Ace LTE
According to the company, the device was developed in cooperation with independent child psychology experts and public health officials. Google also explained how kids' data are protected, especially with the location.
For instance, parents will only have access to their kid's location or activity data, and will not be shared with anyone else. In addition, the location log is after 24 hours while activity data is removed after 35 days.
Aside from in-device games, Google also created Eejies, a customizable creature that grows based on daily activity. Children must complete their daily activity to earn arcade tickets to customize their eejies.
The Fitbit Ace LTE is now available for preorder for only $229.95 on Google Store and Amazon's online store. A subscription for Fitbit Ace Pass costs $9.99 per month which will allow parents to have more connectivity features.
