LEGO is Releasing a New Minecraft Set for Adult Fans

Minecraft still holds the top spot for the video game that has sold the most titles, and it is celebrating its 15th anniversary this 2024. Mojang intends to celebrate its 15 years in many ways, including a new LEGO set that is specifically meant for adults.

LEGO's The Crafting Table

Even though LEGOS are advertised as toys, it's a known fact that its fans are not limited to children. Adults also enjoy assembling building blocks, and seeing as Minecraft's fans are now all grown-up, the release of a LEGO set for adults is only appropriate.

Aptly named "The Crafting Table," it takes the form of a crafting table block from the game as its exterior, but the interior is where all the fun is. Built with 1,195 pieces, the set will show many Minecraft elements in one small box.

It will feature 12 familiar biomes from the game such as Deep Dark, Lush Cave, Swamp, Plains, Forest, Cherry Grove, Desert, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Dripstone Cave, Ice Spikes, and River, and it will be filled with smaller components players will find in the game.

There are five mini-builds and eight micro figures such as Steve, Alex, a skeleton, a witch, a Creeper, a villager, a cow, and a pig. Since they are detachable, it's up to the builder where to place them to create a story within the biome.

The product description adds that there also are detailed underground scenes, stickers with in-game phrases, and hidden Easter eggs "to create a rewarding challenge for adult fans and experienced builders."

It's a small set, which is perfect if one plans to collect all 12 biomes. It is only 14 cm in height, 15 cm wide, and 15 cm deep. The item is open for pre-orders and will be shipped on August 1st this year. It is a bit pricey at the cost of $89.99, so maybe collecting all 12 biomes might be expensive.

Another Treat from Minecraft

It won't just be a LEGO set that fans of the game can enjoy. Mojang Studios is currently working with Netflix to create an animated series based on the game, and it will feature new characters. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of details about it yet.

Netflix says that the animated series will show Minecraft "in a new light." It will be CG-animated and is produced by WildBrain, which is the studio behind known titles like "Carmen Sandiego," "Ninjago: Dragons Rising," and "Sonic Prime,' as per Variety.

If that's not enough, there's even a live-action movie in the works starring Jack Black, who is rumored to be playing Steve, as well as Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Danielle Brooks. However, that won't be coming out until next year.

If anything, all these collaborations that Mojang is participating in just show how much Minecraft is still one of the most adored games in the industry despite being a decade and a half years old. The sandbox game continues to grow and improve to this day and is playable on many gaming platforms.
