Valorant is Arriving to Consoles Soon

Riot first announced Valorant in 2019 and finally was released globally in 2020. During the pandemic, the PC-exclusive game quickly gained popularity as an FPS game. Several popular game streamers were focused on playing the game.

Valorant is now breaking away from its PC exclusivity as Riot revealed a limited beta for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The console version of the game will feature a "custom-built gameplay."

The game will also allow cross-progression from PC to console. This means that gamers with a huge collection of skins and progression will remain on the account between platforms. However, Valorant will not be available for crossplay due to competitive reasons.

Riot Extends Valorant to Console Gamers

In a statement, Riot shared it aims to give a natural gameplay experience for console players. Due to its competitive core, the team made sure to create a smooth gameplay using controllers.

"And - if we couldn't deliver on that gameplay promise - we had to be prepared to walk away from it. We hope we nailed it, but ultimately, our players will have the final say," said Arnar Hrafn Gylfason, production director at Valorant.

Riot's new strategy to expand Valorant's reach will join the huge FPS market in console. Popular titles like Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and Fortnite have been dominating the cross-platform gameplay for a while.

Players can now register to the limited beta. Chosen gamers will be invited through an email to access the game, allowing them to invite up to five friends to join the party.
