A new update is apparently en route for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and set to roll out within the next few days.
The update has in fact already started rolling out for Galaxy S5 owners in the UK and while it's not a major firmware update, it does bring some neat improvements to various departments.
While owners of older Samsung devices may still be frustrated by the pace at which updates roll out for their devices, the company seems to be paying special attention to its latest flagship smartphone. The global Samsung Galaxy S5 will soon receive a new update that will improve the handset's camera and fingerprint scanner, among others.
According to a new report from SamMobile, the new update has already landed in the UK and brings along some welcomed enhancements, and will land soon in other markets as well. The new software reportedly enables the handset to open the camera application more quickly, and it also reduces the loading time of the gallery app. If you own a Samsung device, you likely noticed already that sometimes the gallery can take a while to load up.
In addition to these improvements to the camera and gallery apps, SamMobile further notes that the latest update now makes the Galaxy S5's fingerprint scanner more accurate, even when used with a single hand. Other improvements, meanwhile, include the usual combo - general performance and stability enhancements, as well as better RAM management.
The update is reportedly rolling out over the air (OTA) to the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S5, and it is also available via the Samsung Kies desktop application. As always with OTA updates, it may take a while for the new firmware to reach all devices, but you should receive a notification as soon as the update is ready to download and install.
If you haven't received the update notification yet and are growing impatient, you can always manually check for the update's availability by accessing your device's Settings menu > About Device > Software update > Check for updates. Otherwise, SamMobile also allows eager Galaxy S5 users to download the newest build from its own firmware section at this link and update manually.
