Upcoming LG G Watch smiles for the camera in official teaser (VIDEO)

LG has posted the first video teaser of its upcoming LG G Watch, which will run Google's new Android Wear OS for wearable devices.

The wearable device market is growing at a rapid pace and big players are expected to join the race this year, with smartwatches front and center. LG has recently announced its very first smartwatch, the Android Wear-based LG G Watch, which will go up against Samsung's Gear devices, Motorola's upcoming Moto 360, and others.

While the LG G Watch is yet to hit commercial availability, LG is now offering a better look at its smartwatch through a new teaser video. The LG G Watch is expected to hit retail sometime in July, but nothing is confirmed yet in this regards. The new video does confirm, however, that the wearable gadget will be running Google's Android Wear.

Moreover, the teaser clip further demonstrates the upcoming LG G Watch's waterproof capabilities, which will certainly make it more appealing to potential customers. The video doesn't offer any additional details on the subject, and it remains unclear for now just what level of protection/certification it will have. If it's completely waterproof, users will be able to wear it even in the shower or while swimming, which would surely be a big plus.

The LG G Watch will come with a five-pin connector on its rear, which will allow users to charge it via micro USB. Samsung's Gear 2 and Gear Fit wearables use the same system. With this connector located on the smartwatch's rear, however, it seems that users will not be able to wear the device while it's charging.

The video further shows the two color options for the upcoming LG G Watch - stealth black and champagne gold. LG has yet to offer more details regarding its upcoming smartwatch, but what is known so far is that the LG G Watch will sport a 1.85-inch display that will be always-on, as LG itself boasts on its website. The smartwatch will also come with 4GB of internal storage capacity and will have a metal body "for a timeless look."

While more detailed specifications are not available at this point, you can now get a full look at the upcoming LG G Watch to get a better idea. Watch the video below to see the gadget in action.
