Xbox's Unveiling of All-Digital Series X, S Consoles Comes Ahead of New CoD, Doom Games

Xbox has unveiled its latest disc-less version for the Series X and Series S consoles as the game publisher prepares to release the new Call of Duty and Doom titles.

In a blog post on Sunday, Xbox unveiled new details of the long-rumored digital consoles as it is set to host other platform exclusives like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Avowed.

The new add-digital consoles, which were revealed at the annual Xbox Games Showcase, will come in "robot white" coating for $449.99 and $349.99 1TB versions.

This is much lower than the standard disc version the $500 standard physical version, although customers can now also fetch the 1TB disc drive for 449.99 for a limited period.

The game publisher promoted the new Xbox console variations having the "same speed and performance with more design, storage, and price options to fit your needs."

The new consoles are set to suit the improved graphics in the upcoming Doom: Dark Ages, which also received its new teaser trailer during the event, without compromising its performance as disk drives often suffer.

New Xbox Consoles Different from Earlier Leaks

Amid the series of announcements, some players could still be disappointed with what Xbox has unveiled in its Game Showcase.

This is due to the contrast between the released consoles and earlier leaks hinting that Xbox will give the Series X a more cylindrical redesign.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer already said earlier that plans for its most popular consoles have already "evolved," hinting to share the "real plans when we are ready."

Microsoft, Xbox to Further Push Subscription Service to Players

With the release of Xbox's new digital consoles, the game publisher and its parent company Microsoft are expected to have more opportunities to promote their subscription service to players.

Xbox Game Pass previously recorded a surge in subscribers following the release of Starfield as reports of Microsoft considering releasing future games exclusive on the subscription service.

So far, claims of such a venture proved to be untrue after Xbox announced that the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on both Game Pass and single purchase.

The platform's future remains uncertain, especially with Xbox poised to release two or three new CoD titles next year.
