Apple has finally launched its standalone password manager set to sync all user security details across iOS, iPad, Mac, and Windows devices.
Unveiled during this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, the app confirms earlier reports of Apple releasing a dedicated password manager for both Apple and Windows devices.
Like earlier rumors, the password manager will be powered by Apple's revamped iCloud Keychain system that was previously hidden in the device and website settings.
Turning the security feature more accessible is expected to provide Apple more leverage over its users' security systems amid concerns for third-party password managers.
Aside from account passwords, users can also use the app to store their Wi-Fi passwords, passkeys, and other digital passcodes.
As with earlier reports, there is no indication that Apple is set to provide app support for Google Chrome and Android devices.
Is the Apple iCloud Passwords Safe?
Compared to other third-party password managers, iCloud Passwords is relatively safer to use for people who already own several Apple gadgets.
Not only users will be able to have constant service and security systems across their devices, but the iCloud Passwords also support verification codes and note fields for Apple device owners.
That said, the iCloud Keychain security system is not entirely immune to cyberattacks and exploits.
Bleeping Computer reported last year a malware that can infiltrate Apple's iCloud Keychain on macOS and steal users' passwords, device files, credit card details, and digital wallets.
Apple Unveils More AI-Powered Security Improvements for iOS 18
In addition to the iCloud Passwords, Apple is also providing much-needed upgrades to its security system with the power of AI.
The release of its standalone AI system, Apple Intelligence, provides the phone maker better leverage to provide users privacy while using AI systems.
Among the new additions will be the expansion of its Private Cloud Compute processing to provide users with more features while securing their safety and privacy.
