Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones might lose his social media accounts, including his infamous InfoWars platform, as part of his settlement agreement with Sandy Hook victims' families.
According to Reuters, families of the massacred students and educators want to include Jones's online accounts as part of liquidized assets to pay for the $1.5 billion settlement fine for the class-action defamation lawsuit.
The surrendering of the accounts follows after petitions for Jones and InfoWar owner, Free Speech Systems, to file for bankruptcy were approved by the claimants.
Jones has just recently recovered his account on X (formerly Twitter) after Elon Musk reinstated his personal account and his InfoWars outlet after they were first banned in 2018 for violating "abusive behavior policy."
School Shooting Denier Alex Jones Faces Repercussions
The 50-year-old radio show host previously denied the existence of the 20 children and six teachers killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, while calling the bereaved families for their supposed lies.
Jones, a known far-right conspiracy theorist, claimed the school shooting was fabricated to further restrict gun laws in the US through his social media accounts, including an account with 2.3 million followers.
In turn, his followers have started targeting the families of the victims with online harassment and death threats for years.
One of the parents even said that their life became a "living hell" following Jones's defamatory statements.
Alex Jones Lashes Out Against Political Opponents for Defamation Verdict
Even after liquidating most of his properties and online platforms, Jones is expected to still carry a huge amount of debt from the remaining settlement fine.
Jones, who only has $12 million in assets, claimed that he could only pay less than 1% of the defamation verdict, requesting to be given more time to organize his finances.
Amid his liquidation process, the InfoWar host still found the time to lash out against the government and the Democratic Party for shutting down his platforms.
Jones's statements echo earlier statements from his legal team claiming that the massive settlement fee never intended "money from Jones but to silence him."
The conspiracy theorist promised to "relaunch" another platform even after InfoWars was taken down.
