Netflix to Debut 'The Imaginary' on July 5

"The Imaginary" follows the story of young Amanda and her imaginary friend, Rudger, a boy who is invisible to others. As a kid, Amanda would often share make-believe adventures. However, Rudger will soon find himself in the land of forgotten Imaginaries.

Netflix revealed the trailer for the movie, teasing the fans about some important points in the story. Without revealing the whole plot, "The Imaginary" is focused on how imagination and reality manifest in one's life.

"Our vision is to be as true as possible to our own stories, founded on our belief in this outrageous and wild fantasy," said Yoshiaki Nishimura, screenwriter and producer.

'The Imaginary' Reminds Fans of Studio Ghibli

Like the classic Ghibli film, "The Imaginary" is based on a life journey that features love, loss, and the healing power of imagination. Animation fans will also get that nostalgic feeling of their childhood, reminiscing about their imaginary friends back in the day.

The voice actors in the movie include Louie Rudge-Buchana, Evie Kiszel, Hayley Atwell, Sky Katz, Jeremy Swift, and Kal Penn. They are also joined by LeVar Burton, Jane Singer, A.F. Harrold, Cassandra Lee Morris, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Christopher Swindle, and more.
