The red version of the much-praised HTC One M8 is now official, but this new color option seems to be available only in Taiwan for now.
The HTC One M8 is currently one of the most powerful, highest-end smartphones currently available on the market. The handset launched in three color options - Gunmetal Gray, Silver, and Gold - and it seems to be in for at least one more paint job.
After the red HTC One M8 leaked online, HTC has now officially confirmed that this new color option is indeed available for its latest flagship smartphone. The news comes from HTC's Jeff Gordon, who announced that the red HTC One M8 has made its debut in Taiwan.
"The HTC One (M8) in red looks pretty stunning, no? Launched early today in Taiwan!" Gordon boasted in a Twitter post late on Thursday, May 15.
Gordon did not reveal any other details regarding this fiery red version of the HTC One M8, nor did he mention whether this color option will become available in other regions soon. The red HTC One M8, as well as a potential blue version, are expected to make their way to the U.S., but it remains unconfirmed at this point.
Other than the new paint job, the HTC One M8 remains unchanged in terms of specifications. This means that it sports the same 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, and 2GB of RAM. Other specs include a choice of 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a dual rear camera setup with HTC's UltraPixel technology. In terms of software, the smartphone runs the latest Android 4.4 KitKat and HTC's own Sense 6.0 user interface (UI) on top.
In separate news, HTC has also launched a HTC One Mini 2, which shares some of the specifications and the beautiful design of its larger sibling. One of the most notable highlights of this device is that it features a 5-megapixel front camera as well, which will surely attract selfie fans. The HTC One Mini 2 is set to launch in EMEA and Asia next month, but it remains unclear when or if it will make it to the U.S. as well. Well-known tipster @evleaks claimed that the HTC One Mini 2 will launch on Verizon as the HTC One Remix, but nothing is confirmed.
