DLCs, or downloadable content, are often a hit or miss in comparison to the base game spending more for such little additional content is not even worth the price.
Despite uncertainties, there are still some DLCs that have gone far and beyond to deliver a fitting conclusion to the original game and leave players wanting more.
Here are just some of them:
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Consistent with other DLCs released under a FromSoftware title, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree delivered SoulsBorne fans more than what they could ever ask for with all the content, lore, weapons, and enemies it introduced.
Touted to be bigger than "Limgrave," the largest area in the original Elden Ring map, players will be facing new challenges in this vertical dungeon filled with old and new foes alike as they discover more secrets from the "Golden Order."
The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles
A list of noteworthy DLCs would not be complete without mentioning the classic The Elders Scroll IV: Shivering Isles expansion pack, the second and final installment to The Elders Scroll IV: Oblivion.
More than just a new explorable area, the DLC introduced many beloved quests and characters that have survived the test of time. Best of all, it is the DLC that gave us the "Dawnfang/Duskfang" blades.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
While The Witcher III's "Blood & Wine" expansion pack could arguably be the best DLC CD Projekt RED may ever release, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty saved the game from mediocrity.
Not only it has fixed most of the bugs and glitches that plagued the base game during its 2020 release, it also provided a much-needed conclusion to both the main game casts and several members from its anime spinoff, "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners."
DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1
Although the second DLC installment did not live up to everyone's expectations, DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 perfectly set up the mood and events of how the new DOOM games are and will be: the Doom Slayer vs the Gods.
With DOOM: Dark Ages coming up next year, there is no better time to revisit this hype-packed expansion through hordes of hell spawns to get to the Mutated Seraphim.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony
A good DLC offers players additional content they could enjoy on top of the base game, a great DLC, however, surpasses the original to give a story that would help establish future games in the franchise.
Such is the case for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony as it explores the stories of the gangs and groups that populated Liberty City.
Delivering the perfect mix of action, drama, missions, and weapons, this DLC is the ultimate payoff for all the troubles Niko Bellic has to pass through in the main story.
