HTC One M8 Prime to combine aluminum and liquid silicone in higher-end exotic material build?

HTC is rumored to be working on an HTC One M8 Prime version to rival Samsung's purported Galaxy S5 Prime, and more details have now come to light.

These rumored Prime versions of the two flagships are expected to boast premium design and top-of-the-line features. While the Samsung Galaxy S5 could indeed use a Prime version with a more premium metal build, the HTC One M8 is already quite a top-notch smartphone. The new HTC flagship smartphone already boasts a stylish metallic design crafted from aluminum, and it also has plenty of high-end specs and features. That's not to say the Galaxy S5 is not a real powerhouse, but in terms of design and build material it could use some improvements.

Well-known tipster @evleaks has created lots of hype around this unannounced HTC One M8 Prime model, and HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon (@urbanstrata) has taken to Twitter in an attempt to clear things up.

"In the past few days, a well-known leaker has been completely wrong about at least two of his 'leaks.' Be careful where you get your news," Gordon said in a tweet late on Sunday, May 18.

Evleaks followed up with several tweets in response, starting to offer more details regarding this purported HTC One M8 Prime model, including its main feature.

"P.S. Coolest feature of M8 Prime? It's made out of an exotic material, a composite of aluminum and liquid silicone," @evleaks replied to Gordon on Monday, May 19. The tipster then posted several other messages with even more spec details.

In terms of this exotic material, the Alpha Materials website reveals that this mixture of aluminum and liquid silicone provides several benefits over aluminum, including high thermal conductivity, lightweight designs, greater durability, and cost-effective production.

In following tweets, @evleaks further revealed that the HTC One M8 Prime will be on par with Samsung and Sony by boasting waterproof capabilities, will feature a 5.5-inch display with WQHD resolution, pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM, and launch as the first HTC handset "with a planned Cat. 6 LTE radio." All of these tweets are directed to @urbanstrata, aka HTC's Jeff Gordon, who has yet to reply to this set of consecutive leaks.

As exciting as @evleaks' news may sound, however, keep in mind that it's all just speculation until HTC officially announces the HTC One M8 Prime. As always in such cases, take everything with a grain of salt for now.
