Dr Disrespect is Demonetized on YouTube Over Twitch Ban Allegations

The aftermath of the allegations being thrown at Dr Disprespect continues to bear consequences for the streamer. After losing deals and being cut off from a studio he co-founded, he has now lost arguably one of his biggest sources of revenue.

YouTube Demonetizes Dr Disrespect

Dr Disrespect serves as another cautionary circumstance for streamers who are getting a little too comfortable with their fans. Following the streamer AKA Guy Beahm admitting that he did have inappropriate conversations with a minor, YouTube has demonetized his channel.

His channel already has more than four million subscribers. Beahm switched to YouTube as his main streaming platform after he was then mysteriously banned from Twitch. Unfortunately for the content creator, YouTube is no longer a profitable site as well.

A YouTube spokesperson said the company has "suspended monetization on DrDisrespect's channel for violating our Creator Responsibility policy," as reported by Kotaku. The channel can no longer join the YouTube Partner Program after the "serious allegations against the creator."

What's more is that YouTube was already aware of the allegations before the former Twitch employee revealed it, although it was only a rumor then. YouTube's former Head of Gaming Partnerships Ryan Wyatt said this was the reason the platform never offered an exclusivity contract.

The channel membership feature for Dr Disrespect has also been paused, meaning that those who are making payments for it will no longer be charged. Users will be informed when the membership feature is resumed along with recurring payments.

Consequences of the Allegations

YouTube's demonetization of Dr Disrepsect is just the latest of many losses the streamer has taken. The first was the game studio Midnight Society, which he co-founded terminating its relationship with him.

He was also dropped by a brand called Turtle Beach, which has been sponsoring many of his livestreams. The gaming accessories company even had Dr Disrespect merchandise before that has since been taken down from the site.

His talent agency CAA cut ties with him as well, and his NBA 2K24 character will be removed in the Season 9 patch. It's unknown how many more blows Guy Beahm would take after the revelation of his offense, especially now that he admitted to his mistake.

In a long post on X, he explained his "side of the story." First off, he admitted that the Twitch whisper messages were with a minor, but that there weren't real intentions behind the messages.

There were simply "casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate." He reiterated that nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, and that he never met with the minor at TwitchCon despite talking about it.

People in the replies were not convinced, with one pointing out that Dr Disrespect edited out the word "minor" only to put it back in. Another said that it was a very long post only to say that he was messaging a minor inappropriately. One even joked that he and Drake would get along really well.
