Rumors about Elden Ring possibly receiving a film or TV adaptation might be more real than earlier speculated after "A Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin hinted at the possibility.
At least that is how his statement regarding the matter is in his latest blog post.

While Martin did not exactly confirm that an adaptation is currently in the works, the author brought the idea of the game to the big screen when most talks about adaptations were nothing but fan calls.
Martin is officially credited as a writer for the game's "fantastic tales and lore," however obscure it may be, although his specific contributions were never fully detailed.
The author later shared that he helped the development team create a "deep, dark, resonant world to serve as a foundation" for the game's current narrative years before it happened.
If there is indeed a film or TV adaptation being planned, Elden Ring will be the first game from its developer FromSoftware to receive a chance to be viewed by a wide audience.
Elden Ring is currently FromSoftware's biggest-selling title since it innovated the Souls-like game genre, recording over 25 million copies sold from 2022 to 2023.
Its recently released DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, also broke records after it sold over 5 million copies just three days after its official launch.

Fan Speculations on Rumored Elden Ring Film/TV Adaptation
After reports of Martin's statement made its way to social media, many fans started speculating about which period of the game's extensive lore would be perfect for an adaptation.
A popular fan suggestion would be the story before the titular Elden Ring's "shattering" and the subsequent war that unfolded between Marika's children.
With new details from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, fans are more excited for the "Game of Thrones-like" power struggle among the demigods that happened years before the Tarnished and the game's event unfolded.
Pick an event before the game began, expand on that. Imagine, a whole movie on Godfreys war with the giants, or Radagon's war then eventual marriage into the house of Caria. That would be cool.

As for the medium that the story is getting adapted, most fans seem to gravitate towards an animation rather than live-action, noting that the fantastical elements of the Lands Between would make a live-action chuck-full of CGIs.
If he goes through with this, please pleeeeaaaaseuh let it be animated. Specifically by the same team that did the trailer animations because those were breath taking.

TV, Film Adaptation Rumors Haunt FromSoftware Titles
Elden Ring was not the first FromSoftware title that has been speculated to receive a film or TV adaptation following its critical success.
For years, fans have been talking about potential adaptations to the Dark Souls franchise, while others think that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice or Bloodborne has a bigger chance of receiving an adaptation due to its more cohesive story.
