Samsung's much-rumored Galaxy S tablet duo is expected to debut on June 12 at a "Galaxy Premiere" event, but pricing details have already leaked for both slates.
The upcoming Galaxy Tab S tablets will reportedly boast top-notch specs and features and will launch as the company's first slates to feature 2K AMOLED displays. According to a new report, however, it seems that the Galaxy Tab S lineup will sport quite steep prices, even more expensive than the Galaxy Tab Pro models.
The folks over at The Droid Guy have spotted both Galaxy Tab S tablets at Finnish retailer Multitronic, which has already listed prices for the devices ahead of their official debut. Both models will apparently be more expensive than their Tab Pro counterparts, likely due to the AMOLED panel and the rumored fingerprint scanner. While Samsung has launched tablets with 2K displays so far, none of them had an AMOLED panel. In terms of fingerprint reader, only the Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone comes with this technology for now.
The Finnish retailer lists the 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S with a €449.90 price tag for the Wi-Fi-only model and €563.90 for the 4G LTE version. The 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab Pro, for instance, costs €399 for the Wi-Fi version and €519 for the 4G one, making the Tab S significantly more expensive by comparison. The larger 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S, meanwhile, will reportedly come with a €563.90 price tag for the Wi-Fi model and €681.90 for the 4G variant. The retailer further reveals that fist stock of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S should arrive in early June.
In terms of specifications, the Wi-Fi-only models will reportedly pack octa-core Samsung Exynos 5420 processors, while the LTE versions may come with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipsets. Both tablets will feature 2560 x 1600 AMOLED panels, have 8-megapixel rear cameras and 2.1-megapixel front shooters, sport fingerprint readers, 2GB of RAM, and run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Connectivity options will include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, optional LTE, GPS, and IR blaster.
These prices for the Galaxy Tab S models are not confirmed at this point, but the tablets are nonetheless expected to come with premium pricing. As previously mentioned, Samsung has scheduled a Galaxy Premiere event in New York City on June 12, where the new Galaxy Tab S lineup should become official. Stay tuned for more details as soon as they surface.
