Some lucky Amazon customers will get to try out the company's recently launched Fire TV completely free of charge for 30 days as part of a new promotion.
Not too long ago, Amazon unleashed its new Fire TV aiming to take on rivals such as Roku, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and others. As part of a bid to increase the popularity of the Fire TV and take over the living room, Amazon has now kicked off a very attractive deal. The company is now offering some of its customers a 30-day free trial for the set-top box.
The emphasis here is on "some," as not all Amazon customers will be able to take advantage of this free trial. According to a new report from Re/code, Amazon is hand-picking participants and sending them an invite-only promotional email. Lucky users who have received the promotional email can take advantage of this deal by applying the offer and checking out, leaving Amazon to pick up the tab. If this offer was not attractive enough, Amazon is also throwing in free shipping, so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your 30 days of free Fire TV.
Without this promotion, the Amazon Fire TV costs $99. The Internet-connected set-top box uses voice search when you speak into the remote, making it easier and more convenient. The Amazon Fire TV can also serve as a gaming console and even has a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU), in addition to its quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. According to Amazon, its Fire TV is three times more powerful than the Apple TV. The remote control, meanwhile, works on Bluetooth and is available separately for $39.
As previously mentioned, not all Amazon users will get to test the Fire TV for free for 30 days. Those who do, meanwhile, must be aware that if they keep the device after this trial period expires, Amazon will assume they want to keep it and will charge the card they have on file.
