Toshiba just announced two new Windows-based tablet/ laptop hybrids, the Satellite Click 2 and Satellite Click 2 Pro aimed at the back-to-school season.
The 2-in-1 detachable PCs sport 13.3-inch removable displays, run Windows 8.1 and allow users to seamlessly switch from a full-featured laptop to a tablet to make things easier and more convenient, depending on necessities.
"We've developed two amazing detachables - one that delivers solid, everyday performance at a great price and another that features a premium performance configuration that the category has been missing. Yet both give consumers the productivity benefits of a laptop and the convenience and battery life of a tablet in one device," Philip Osako, senior director of product marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division, said in the press release on Tuesday, May 27.

The new Satellite Click 2 will launch in late June at a suggested retail price of $587, and will be exclusively available through Best Buy and Toshiba's own website.
This device measures less than an inch in thickness with the keyboard and weighs in at 4.84 pounds in laptop mode and 2.8 pounds as a tablet. Under the hood, the machine packs an Intel Pentium N3530 processor. The base model comes with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and a 13.3-inch detachable touchscreen. The Satellite Click 2 is part of Toshiba's effort to attract more mainstream buyers to laptop/tablet hybrids.
Toshiba Satellite Click 2 Pro
The Pro version, meanwhile, comes with a 128GB solid state drive, an Intel Core i5 processor, and Harmon Kardon audio. This model starts at $1,028, while a higher-end version with an Intel Core i7 processor and an extra battery built into the keyboard will cost $1,279. The Toshiba Satellite Click 2 Pro will also be exclusive to Best Buy.
"For power users who demand more from their devices, the Satellite Click 2 Pro features a 'no-compromises' slim design with a Full HD display, powerful performance, dual cameras, and a premium sound system with an innovative 'push-pull' hinge mechanism that makes it easy to attach and detach the screen with a single hand," Toshiba further touts in its press release.
The Click 2 Pro comes with a stylish anodized aluminum brushed enclosure and measures 0.78 inches in thickness as a laptop. This model also features a 13.3-inch full HD removable display, while connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, microHDMI and microUSB ports, wireless display support, and Intel WiDi6 for screen sharing to big TVs. The tablet also sports a microSD card slot for additional memory.
The full-size keyboard base comes with LED backlit keys, two USB 3.0 ports, one with USB Sleep & Charge and an HDMI port. A premium version, meanwhile, offers a keyboard base with a secondary battery and an additional 500GB hard drive to go along with the 128GB solid state drive built-in to the tablet. Other specs include an HD webcam on the front and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
As previously mentioned, both new Toshiba Satellite Click 2 hybrids will hit commercial availability late next month and will be exclusively sold through Best Buy and Toshiba's own website.
