‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Set Photos Get Negative Reactions from Fans

HBO's "The Last of Us" was praised for its adaptation of the game of the same title, saying that it managed to capture the essence of the story beautifully. However, there are still a lot of fans who are not happy about the casting choices, particularly that of Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

New Set Photos Receive Hate from 'Fans'

Ever since the last episode of the series aired in March last year, fans of both the game and the show have been eager to see the second season. While it will still be a while before the second season is released, viewers can be comforted by the fact that production is already ongoing.

@TheLastofUsNews posted a photo on X showing Ellie and Dina, both of which are important characters in the game sequel. This, however, received negative comments, where people still do not agree that Ramsey should be cast as the protagonist.

One user said that the casting for Ellie was a "complete disaster," and even went as far as saying that the actress for Dina, Isabela Merced, was also not fit for the role. Another complained that they already ruined the second season.

One suggested that Ramsey's Ellie should have shorter hair since that was Ellie's hairstyle in the game. One thing that fans might be glad to see is Ellie's tattoo, which can already been on the photo shared on X.

Showrunner Craig Mazin could not disagree more. He has praised Bella's performance as Ellie in the first season, saying that they're "the most remarkable performer," as well as "the best Ellie ever," as reported by Gaming Bible

Even the viewer numbers of the show can attest to the success of every aspect of the series, including actors who were cast for the roles. Ramsey has been seen as a remarkable actor ever since their portrayal of Lyanna Mormont in "Game of Thrones."

'The Last of Us' Season 2: What We Know

It's already easy to paint a picture of what the show would look like, especially for those who have already played the game. The cast has already been completed as well, so we can put an actor's face to the loved and hated characters in The Last of Us Part II.

Other than the cast members from the first season, we are seeing important additions for new characters. Dina will be played by Isabela Merced, Abby Anderson with Kaitlyn Dever, Young Mazino with Jesse, and actors have also been cast as members of the WLF.

As for the release date, the show has a release window of 2025, according to Deadline, and will also gradually release one episode per week as it did in the first season. Sadly, the second season will be shorter and only have seven episodes.

However, that may come as good news as the show will continue on to a third season, meaning that more of the game's narrative will be tackled in the show given the number of episodes that will cover all of the events.
