Foldable Phones: Why are a Lot of People Still Adverse Towards Them?

It has been years since foldable phones first became available, yet the innovative device remains far behind regular smartphones.

A big factor is how many people remain adverse towards foldable phones despite how brands continue to push the devices to their customers.

Affordability

One of the biggest issues in foldable phones is their prices which often go around double the price for non-premium smartphones.

Since designing the foldable phone requires more resources and expertise, not to mention the brands that offer these exclusive products, it is no surprise that these devices could fetch thousands of dollars easily.

Crease in the Middle

Expensive prices are often not the only concerns many people have with foldable phones, it is the device's design itself that could turn off potential buyers.

When the device is active, there is not much difference from regular smartphones. However, switching off the screen will display the long crease in the middle many people find unappealing.

Repair Difficulty

Due to these unique design decisions, repairing damaged foldable phones may also prove to be more difficult.

Aside from the manufacturers themselves, only select repair stores offer services for foldable phones. This would mean that not all areas could have access to affordable repairs for their foldable phones.

While repairing the device on the original vendor remains an option, most branded foldable phones could cost the user huge bills just to fix an issue on their device.

Comfortability

In the same sense that people would not want a foldable phone for its fold crease in the middle, many would also likely express discomfort in operating a foldable screen.

Holding a phone nearly twice the size of a regular device on one hand would be uncomfortable for some, much like operating a tablet in one hand.

Although more modern iterations of the foldable phones were made to address these concerns, the issue would now then be the exorbitant price placed for these new releases.
