Humble Games Enter Restructuring Amid Ongoing Projects

A representative from Humble Games stated that the company is undergoing restructuring. The representative clarified that the studio is not closing its doors yet on its project but did not reveal the total number of lost jobs.

He also added that the ongoing and upcoming projects under the company will continue their development and will be published by the studio within its timeline.

A senior quality assurance employee shared on LinkedIn that he and the entire staff of the studio were laid off. "The games industry is volatile, it's been inundated by people who only want exponential growth at the expense of making great games with great teams," Emilee Kieffer wrote on the platform.

Gaming Staff Suffers Continuous Layoffs

The recent news of layoffs from Humble Games is just one of many incidents of employee removal across the gaming industry. In 2023, the gaming business experienced a shocking number of job losses across various studio sizes.

Kieffer stated that his team from Humble Games is the best team he's ever worked with. However, he remarked how the business aspect of the industry plays a crucial role in sacrificing employees' role in creating products.

The studio published almost 50 video games in the market like Unpacking, Coral Island, and Wandersong. The company is also set to release Never Alone 2.

Humble Games remained firm that the decision was caused by "much deliberation and careful thought" to prioritize the stability of its developers and ongoing projects.
