Fortnite to Soon Return on iOS in EU, Leaves Samsung Galaxy Store

Fortnite could soon be played on iPhones as the popular video game arrives on iOS after deciding to leave the Samsung Galaxy Store.

First reported by Reuters, Fortnite publisher Epic Games announced plans to move the game from Samsung to the iOS third-party platform AltStore in protest to Samsung's recent blocking of default-side loading of apps on its Android devices.

So far, the transition is only available to European Union users as Epic Games continues its legal battle against Apple that has been ongoing since 2020.

Will Fortnite Arrive on Apple App Store Too?

While both parties have not indicated any plans to bring back Fortnite to the Apple App Store, Epic Games has been slowly reclaiming its position in the mobile market after legal victories and increasing antitrust regulations on the tech giants.

Earlier in July, Apple approved the game publisher's request to create its own app marketplace for iPhones and iPads in Europe as Epic Games continues to escalate its fight against Apple.

The same could soon happen in other parts of the globe as regulators increase scrutiny on both Apple and Google to relax their app store policies to allow developers better freedom on their platforms and device systems.

AltStore told The Verge that Epic Games also intends to move Rocket League Sideswipe and Postparty to its new partnered app store as it calls out against Samsung and Google for its recent actions restraining competition.
