5 Things to Consider Before Upgrading Your iPhones

It has already been a tradition for a new iPhone to be released each year as Apple fans upgrade their phones to experience all the latest releases for all the changes the phone maker introduces.

While the act of continuously upgrading your iPhone seems great on paper, the growing inflation rate makes it difficult for many people, except for a select few hobbyists, to afford this expensive venture.

To make sure you are making the most of Apple's changes, here are some factors to consider before upgrading your iPhones to the latest model:

Remaining Time for Security Update Support

Knowing how much time is left for your iPhone's security update support should always be the No. 1 driving factor in deciding to upgrade your devices.

Like with all software systems and digital devices, iPhones have a limited time when they can receive security updates from Apple.

Using the device past its "expiration date" risks users of being more vulnerable to cyberattacks, system exploits and glitches inherent in many devices as they age.

The only solution for this problem is to upgrade your phone to more recent models where it still receives regular security updates.

Prioritize Usability

While upgrading your iPhones to keep receiving security updates is needed, it is important to remember that these security software support often last four to eight years.

This means that iPhone owners would not necessarily need to upgrade their devices each year to continue receiving needed support to make their smartphones secure.

Unless the device shows signs of slowing down, impairment, or any damage, upgrading iPhones would be out of demand rather than necessity.

Discount Season

If you still intend to continue with the annual iPhone upgrade tradition, it is better to do so during discount seasons when Apple cuts back the upgrade value of its latest model to encourage older model owners to try its new iPhone.

Discount seasons often arrive as Apple prepares to release its next biggest iPhone installment or when the big tech is set to hold a major event.

Demand for AI-Powered Changes

Due to Apple's recent approach to improving its iPhone experience, more AI-powered features can be expected in future Apple device releases.

This also means that users must first fully accept these changes before upgrading their devices or switching phone brands as these additions would likely be part of Apple's plans in the next couple of years.
