Nokia Lumia 1320 Windows Phone phablet makes U.S. debut on Cricket Wireless

Microsoft is officially launching the Nokia Lumia 1320 phablet in the U.S., but it's only through AT&T's prepaid branch Cricket Wireless.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 made its debut back in October 2013 as the company's second phablet, after the Lumia 1520, but so far it never made it stateside. Cricket Wireless has now announced that it will be adding the Lumia 1320 to its lineup, launching it as its first Windows Phone phablet.

"Our expanding lineup of new and popular phones on top of a nationwide, reliable network offering more 4G LTE coverage than Sprint, T-Mobile, and Metro PCS, period, is a differentiator mobile customers will enjoy every day," touts Andy Smoak, Cricket Wireless AVP of Product. "With the Nokia Lumia 1320 we are providing big value to customers at a budget friendly price."

The device will be available with no annual contracts for $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate via a promotion card, as part of a limited-time promotion set to expire on July 10.

As a reminder, the Nokia Lumia 1320 boasts a massive 6-inch HD IPS display with 720p resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, basically serving as a mini tablet with phone functions. Under the hood, the phablet packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Nokia Lumia 1320 include 8GB of internal storage capacity, a micro SD card slot for additional memory, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front facing shooter. A large 3,400 mAh battery will provide up to 21 hours of 3G talktime on a single charge. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, HSPA+, and GPS. On the software side, the Nokia Lumia 1320 is yet to receive the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update, but should get it soon enough. According to Cricket, the new OS update will arrive "in the coming months."

In addition to the no-contract option for the Lumia 1320, Cricket will also be offering the device with monthly plans starting at an affordable $35. The phablet will be available online and in-stores later this week, on June 13.

Currently no information is available regarding when or if the Nokia Lumia 1320 will arrive on other carriers in the U.S. as well, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear more.
