The latest information comes at a crucial time for OpenAI as it is opening a new round of investments for interested companies, and reports claim that it will see a huge one.

Both possible newbies to OpenAI's shareholders are known for their partnerships with renowned AI companies, focusing on their different technologies.

The Wall Street Journal revealed in its latest report that OpenAI will possibly see both Apple and Nvidia join the company's shareholders. This new claim says that both companies having plans to invest in OpenAI, with discussions already made separately with the company.

Apple and OpenAI are known for their recent relationship that resulted in the integration of ChatGPT to Siri, which was announced earlier during WWDC 2024. This is expected to rollout soon for iOS devices.

Nvidia likewise has an existing business relationship with OpenAI as well as the GPU maker is supplying the company with chips, graphics cards, and processors for the latter's AI developments.

Microsoft to No Longer Be the Only Big Tech Investor for OpenAI?

Microsoft has been the lone big tech company thus far that invested in OpenAI. Microsoft has been an investor of the company since 2019.

Given the latest speculations, it seems that Microsoft will no longer be the only big tech investor, according to Bloomberg (via The Verge). The company may opt to likewise join the next funding round, which Thrive Capital will be leading.

Reports have claimed that OpenAI will be valued at more than $100 billion.

OpenAI's Partnership with Big Tech Companies

OpenAI has its fair share of partnerships, and the company is known for welcoming these over the past years since before it gained significant popularity in the industry. Its current largest investor and partner is Microsoft, with the software company initially forging a three-year deal with OpenAI.

The two companies decided to extend this partnership last January 2023.

Despite its partnerships with big tech companies, OpenAI has also had some fallouts with other companies through the years. In particular, Tesla's Elon Musk is known as a co-founder and former investor of OpenAI, but the billionaire has since left the company as he disagreed with their decisions and operations.

Despite the abundance of AI startups and big tech rivals developing new technologies in the industry, OpenAI remains a dominant force and still attracts important names to invest or partner with the company. For OpenAI's next funding round, reports claim that it is expecting significant players to join in, and that includes the speculations on Apple and Nvidia.
