There seems to be a showdown to be expected in Apple's upcoming It's Glowtime event this Monday, September 9, and it will reportedly involve the company's two wearables, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Apple Watch Series 10. Both smartwatches are getting significant upgrades and improvements, marking what is seen as the comeback after experiencing legal troubles last year that affected availability.
Months after the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 were made available in the market, they were pulled out of the market due to an alleged copyright infringement against Masimo. Both devices were eventually returned to the market, but ended up getting banned.
Apple Watch Ultra 3, Series 10: What to Expect?
According to the latest report from Bloomberg, Apple is gearing up for a massive showcase of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Series 10 in the upcoming September fall event. It has been reported that both models will feature a sleep apnea detection technology. However, this has not been confirmed by Apple as of press time.
It has been revealed by 9to5Mac that the Ultra 3 is expected to have larger batteries than the Series 10. It will likewise also feature a combination of titanium case and improved glass, as well as a customizable Action button for various functions.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will reportedly be priced at $799. The Series 10 is the more affordable option, priced at $450.
It's Glowtime Event to Also Focus on Wearables
The upcoming It's Glowtime event from Apple is expected to officially launch the iPhone 16 series. It is also expected to given significant attention to the Apple Watches and its other accessories.
The Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 3 will both feature new processors with the latest S10 chipset that is said to have artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. It has been reported that both devices will have the same display size.
Redemption Era for Apple's Smartwatches
December 2023 was not a good month for Apple as it was slapped with a copyright lawsuit by a California-based health tech company Masimo for allegedly stealing their technology for its latest Apple Watches. This came months after it unveiled the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 to the public, which has a blood oxygen detection feature which was said to be infringed.
Initially, Apple moved towards freezing both of the new wearables' sale in Apple Stores, both online and physical retailers, to avoid further problems with the authorities and Masimo. While it was returned to the market for a period of time, ultimately, these devices from the Cupertino-based tech giant were banned.
Apple's efforts of removing the blood oxygen feature via a software-side effort were not enough, so its next release will be a significant one as it will try to stage a comeback for its watches.
