PS5's System Update Adds More Home Screen Customization Features to Edit Widgets and More

Customization is part of the gaming experience, and Sony's latest system update for the PlayStation 5 looks to add more customization options for its users. According to the company, a new Welcome Hub is here to deliver just that, offering users more ways to customize their home screen.

This new update from Sony is ushering in more customization options that would help change the home screen's layout more than before.

The latest system update for the PlayStation 5 is here, and this brings new experiences for PS5 owners to enjoy as Sony is providing more options for home screen customization. Users may begin to download update version 24.06-10.00.00 on their PS5s, and some may already see the new Welcome Hub dedicated to all things customization.

It has been noted by Sony that for North American users, the Welcome Hub will replace its previous Explore hub. Sony also noted that only a limited number of users will be able to receive the new Welcome hub. Despite already downloading the update, the rollout will take one to two months to be completed.

Edit Widgets, Resize Them, and More

PS5's Welcome hub allows the owner to customize both widgets and the background. It gives the users the chance to edit and resize the widgets they see, including storage information, online friends, battery levels (for DualSense and other accessories), and more. There are also preset layouts available, but users may opt to do this manually.

This update also brings personalized 3D audio, adaptive charging for DualSense, party links, Remote Play restrictions, and more.

PlayStation 5 Customization Experiences

Not all gamers are that fond of customizing their consoles or their interfaces as their main focus is to play games. However, for those who are also considering looks to be part of their experience, Sony is known for offering a variety of customization available for its modern-gen gaming device.

As example, Sony now offers a detachable console cover for its PlayStation, While all release come in white, there are several options from Sony and other third-party manufacturers.

In addition, there are also special DualSense controllers that have specific designs, including a recent release by Sony which features Astro Bot.

That being said, the PS5's software itself only has limited customization features available for gamers after four years since the console was released in 2020. The latest update from Sony adds to his limited number.
