End-to-End Encryption is Now Live on Discord’s Voice, Video Calls for Mobile, Desktop Apps

Safety and security are everything in this digital world, and Discord is assuring its users that these are what they will get with its lates update. The platform has announced that end-to-end encryption (E2EE) is now available.

This latest update by Discord assures that E2EE protocols are in place, for voice and video calls for personal or groups. Go Live streams will likewise get this encrypted experience. 

It is now a must to utilize E2EE-supported platforms for different kinds of communication as there can be unknown entities spying on and stealing one's data online.

Discord has introduced "DAVE" to the world, and it is the new end-to-end encryption protocol of the company that is now live on its communications platform for all users. It has been revealed by Discord that DAVE is available on direct messages, group DMs, voice channels, and Go Live streams, and it will ensure that all members of the chat are secured.

The DAVE protocol will also verify the identity of the members who are part of the call or join their specific channels. 

Additionally, Discord has also released its DAVE protocol whitepaper, which is available for users to review. This will provide key changes and updates as part of its transparency campaign.

What Does Discord's End-to-End Encryption Offer?

It has been revealed by Discord that its DAVE E2EE protocol will offer "truly private" conversations for users, and it will restrict people who are not on the platform, including the company itself, to access the encryption keys. Each call will have its unique media encryption keys that cannot be decrypted by those who are yet to join or have left the calls. 

Discord promises to be open and transparent with its DAVE protocol, assuring users that their focus is on privacy and security and their integration to its platform.

Discord's Features Available For All

Discord is one of the apps that blew up in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is among the few that have maintained its popularity and userbase up to this day. It has been mostly used for game streaming and staying connected with friends, but through the years, it introduced significant updates that have personalized the experience for gamers.  

Games are not the only available experience on Discord as users may also enjoy music streaming with friends and other contacts as the platform collaborated with TuneIn earlier this year to bring live radio stations for free. 

In addition, Discord has also expnded on its game development within the platform, which looks to bring more entertainment for users apart from third-party games or watching movies.
