Android Headlines' latest report claims that Motorola is planning to update its ThinkPhone lineup with a new smartphone coming in 2025. Details about the rumored new smartphone are still scarce, but it has been claimed that it will see drastic changes that will set it apart from the previous release, which came out in early 2023.

The new ThinkPhone will reportedly feature a 6.36-inch screen from its previous 6.6-inch display, but it slightly amps up its output at 2670x1200 resolution and will run at 120Hz.

In addition, instead of its 5,000 mAh battery, Motorola will give it a smaller 4,310 mAh, but it will retain its 68W charging capabilities paired with its power brick.

ThinkPhones: Qualcomm to MediaTek's Dimensity

The biggest claim this rumor has made is that the ThinkPhones will no longer feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon, particularly as it previously got the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Instead, it will now be utilizing MediaTek's Dimensity 7300, the rival's flagship SoC.

Its new chip will power the many processes available with Motorola, including its 50MP, 13MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto 3x optical zoom rear cameras. The rumor has not mentioned if the upcoming ThinkPhones will still feature its Windows streaming capabilities.

It has likewise not been mentioned which artificial intelligence (AI) features it can run as Motorola recently adopted the technology.

Motorola vs. the Smartphone Industry

Motorola was a household name for cellular phones from the early 2000s through the 2010s, but the company lost its footing when smartphones became the deal in the tech industry. However, recently, the Lenovo-owned company has been making a name for itself yet again, and this time, it is now featuring the Android operating system and still offers its renowned developments on its devices.

The Razr series may be Motorola's most famous smartphone in its lineup, but there are still a plethora of devices from the company that bring significant experiences and features to the table. The first ThinkPhone from Motorola and Lenovo brought forth a positive experience for its users, especially those in the business side of the spectrum, with its ability to stream Windows without the computer.

It remains one of the nifty features of the ThinkPhone when it was released in January 2023, and it still offers a long list of capabilities for users that could simplify the workload or computer-to-synphone experiences.
